We’ve acquired SO-SURE, a UK based insurtech, so that we can strengthen our foothold in the UK and provide a range of new mobile and contents products through Open’s embedded insurance platform. 

Open is aware of an information security incident. It has been confirmed that one customer in Australia has been impacted. We are currently investigating whether other customers have been impacted. Transparency is one of our core values and we will share as much about the incident as we can without negatively impacting security or customer privacy. Read on for more information on how we are handling this incident.

Insurtech Open was recognised by FinTech Global as an InsurTech100 Company for 2021. The InsurTech100 is an annual list of 100 of the world’s most innovative InsurTech companies selected by a panel of industry experts and analysts.

Australasian insurtech Open raised a $31 million growth round from international investors, led by Movac (NZ) with Latitude (UK) and returning investor AirTree Ventures (AU). This brings the scale-up’s total capital raised to $53 million.

We’re excited to announce our partnership with Tower. Huddle, powered by Open and underwritten by Tower, will launch in New Zealand.

Five years ago, if you wanted to open up a bank account you had to get in your car, drive to your nearest branch and fill out a tiresome amount of paperwork. You’d be given introductory savings rates that would fizzle away to practically nothing after a few months.

Open currently has team member distributed across hubs in Sydney, the Sunshine Coast and Queenstown in NZ. With another hub opening in the UK later this year, how we operate across these hubs will continue to be tested and optimized. For now, this is what we’re doing and how we’re doing it.
